Description:

The workshop will draw on the results of two national meetings held by the organizers designed to explore the concepts of social justice and access to justice. The first of these meetings, a symposium on social justice hosted by the Department of Canadian Heritage in may 1999 brought together academics, public servants, and community representatives. The second was a national symposium on access to justice hosted by the Department of Justice in March 2000. Each of these meetings involved stocktaking exercises designed to explore best practices and policies. The goal of the workshop will be to explore the lessons learned through these two exercises which can contribute to policy and research agendas for the future.
