Description:

The main task of the workshop is to discuss and to propose practical solutions for modifying the operational bodies of the State (administration, agencies, institutions, etc.) to match the needs of new migration laws. In a process of harmonization of migration policies in Europe, the suggested starting point is the "treasure of best practices" each Country can demonstrate and share with other partners, more than a "top - down" European legislative process. From that perspective the key is to respond to the question: how has (or had) the State adjusted, modified and adapted, its "bodies" to implement policies? Both policy makers and NGOs are asked to discuss and to share their experiences in order to bridge the gap between the enunciation of the laws and their implementation. The issues will be addressed through international comparison, identifying the different models which each Country has applied to adapt its administrative bodies and agencies to match the operational needs of new migration laws.
