Description:

In recent years in Canada and in Europe, labour force development boards have been established to play a role in shaping labour market training initiatives. Typically comprised of non-governmental members - led by labour and business, but also including representatives from various equity groups and educators - these boards were intended to promote the development of a more highly skilled and adaptive labour force. Often including immigrant community representation, these boards provide a dynamic stakeholder approach to labour market training. This workshop will compare the experience of labour force development boards in different jurisdictions and their social partnerships with immigrant communities.
