The International Metropolis Project is a forum for bridging research, policy and practice on migration and diversity.
The Project aims to enhance academic research capacity, encourage policy-relevant research on migration and diversity issues,
and facilitate the use of that research by governments and non-governmental organizations.

Dr Jan Niessen is director of the Brussels based Migration Policy Group, an independent policy institute on migration and diversity (www.migpolgroup.com). He is member of the Editorial Board of the European Journal of Migration and Law and of the Board of Directors of the Journal of International Migration and Integration, editor of a book series on migration and law. He chaired the Starting Line Group (a coalition of European NGOs promoting anti-discrimination legislation) and is promoting the adoption of European immigration policies (the Amsterdam Proposals). For the Council of Europe he wrote the report Diversity and Cohesion. He organised many experts meeting involving European and North American governmental and non-governmental organisations and the private sector. He established various international expertise networks on anti-racism, diversity and minority issues.
