Title: Presentation regarding Reception Facilities for Asylum Seekers in the EU

Aikaterini Antoniadou

Presentation of the conclusions of the project carried out by GCR with funding from the ERF-Community Actions budget regarding Reception Facilities for asylum seekers in the 15 EU Member-States. The research focuses on the role of Local Authorities in the reception of asylum seekers and on the views of the people involved in the day-to-day running of such facilities, so that opinions, problems and suggestions can be gathered from the ground, issues identified and recommendations made.

Due to the fact that the research is still being conducted and responses from many countries have not been easy to collect, there will be a brief presentation of the situation in Greece, with which we are most familiar, followed by the results so far of the European-wide research and the conclusions drawn, pointing out the common issues raised.
