From December 1999 . Consultant to the Interministerial Commission for the implementation
of art. 18 of Law 286/98 (. Provisions concerning immigration and
rules on the condition of the foreign person. ), foreseen in art. 25, comma
2, of the implementation rules of the above mentioned law.
Since 1979 my personal experience as field operator
and social researcher has focused , at the national level, on social and
economic exclusion and, since 1990, I have been engaged in research work at a
super-national level.
My activity has mainly consisted in collaborating to studies and
research on: the phenomena of marginalisation connected with immigration at
the European level; aspects of social policies and service fruition; rights
and forms of citizenship; impediments to social integration and professional
training; juridical forms of . institutional racism. ; the
relationship between development co-operation and immigration and, between
immigration and social exclusion.
In the last three years I. ve carried
out enquiries on prostitution co-ordinating a transnational research-action in
Italy, Spain and Greece. The research is also aimed at evaluating training
actions for reinforcing the competence of workers involved in the field of
foreign prostitution.
A relevant part of my professional activity is carried out in co-operation
with private institutes and Foundations as well as with University Institutes and
Departments. In Rome, with the University. s Institute of Demography
( with prof. Nora Federici, prof. Giuseppe Gesano and prof. Anna Maria Birindelli) and
with the Department of Juridical Psychology (with prof. Gaetano De Leo);
in Naples, with the University. s Department of Labour Sociology (with prof.
Enrico Pugliese); in Florence, with the University. s Department of
Education (with prof. Giovanna Campani, with whom, in 1996 and 1998, I
organised a specialisation course on intercultural issues). I have a
professional relationship as expert with the University of Florence on issues
related to social exclusion and, particularly, on foreign immigration. This
co-operation has also involved the Department of Labour Sociology of the
University of Modena (with prof. Giovanni Mottura).
