RELEVANT RECENT CAREER:

 

 

2000-present:          Refugee Policy Advisor, International Council of Voluntary Agencies. Responsible for: international advocacy on refugee issues, especially the Global Consultations on International Protection and UNHCR EXCOM meetings; relations with UNHCR generally; policy analysis; monitoring and reporting on policy developments; revitalising the PARinAC process; following up the work of the Reach Out for protection; monitoring the CISCONF follow-up and facilitating NGO contributions; carrying out a campaign on a new supervisory mechanism for the Refugee Convention; website maintenance and fund-raising.

 

 

 

1999- 2000:               Policy Officer, European Council on Refugees & Exiles Responsible for: policy analysis, especially of EU initiatives; policy development; relations with UN agencies, OSCE and Council of Europe; research; reporting relevant developments; management of project on learning lessons from Kosovo.

 

1997- 1999:               Refugee Officer, Amnesty International UK. Responsible for: policy analysis, particularly of UK Government and EU initiatives; advocacy, campaigning and lobbying on refugee and human rights issues in the UK and Europe; research into treatment of refugee children; development of and reporting to AI membership; representation of AI at meetings; management of refugee case-load; management of information enquiries.

 

1992- 1997:               Caseworker, Refugee Legal Centre. Responsible for: training and supervising all new staff from 1996; legal representation of a large case-load of refugees to the Home Office and Appellate Authority; policy development in relation to women and children.
