This timeline sets out the major milestones in the process
governing bids for International Metropolis Conferences. Within in each step are smaller
milestones. Successful applicants should
remain in regular contact with the Secretariat and members of the International
Steering Committee.

contact with the Secretariat and the International Steering Committee at its
biannual committee meetings and International Conference.

Progress report at the Spring meeting of the International
Steering Committee meeting. Dates,
venue, concrete themes, proposed plenary sessions, study tours and social
activities and evidence of specific and continued progress is necessary.

Final approval of conference plans at the Fall meeting of the International Steering Committee.

Conference
announcement and initial call for workshop proposals distributed at
International Conference immediately preceding planned event.

Conference hosts
ensure necessary logistical arrangements are in place and work with the
Secretariat and the International Steering Committee to confirm plenary
speakers, organize the workshop program, and promote the event.
