Workshop description:
The aim of the workshop is a discussion of the impact of different welfare provisions, fiscal systems, and regulatory frameworks on the labour recruitment process that leads to different outcomes in terms of labour mobility and international migration. Therefore, international comparisons of recruitment strategies in different economic sectors are expected to show both the importance of national context variables and the influence of supranational mechanism for economic migration in Europe. The workshop is intended to deepen our understanding of welfare and fiscal systems in national political, institutional and social contexts, and the resulting problems of ‘incomplete European integration’. It is expected to provide advanced knowledge that demonstrates the consequences and implications of incomplete integration and, thereby, feed into Commission learning processes and strategising about the development of EU employment and social policies.


Goals of the workshop:
Discuss the impact of different welfare, fiscal, and regulatory systems on the labour recruitment process and on labour mobility and international migration.




Policy relevance and topic: Incomplete integration, and development of EU employment and social policies.


How international comparisons are included: International comparisons are included through the discussion of differente recruitment strategies in different economic sectors in several countries.
